Nanny Brock

This week we were totally blessed by getting to hang out with a fantastic friend. Amanda has been in the jungles of Peru for the last two years with the International Mission Board. She was speaking in a church in Oklahoma and decided to drive over here and hang out for a about two days. But then, we realized that we didn't want her to leave. So, we started booking her for speaking engagements here.... And she got to stay the whole week! (Me: "No, really, you don't want me to speak to FCA--I'll pass this opportunity along to my amazing friend who worked with D1 athletes in college!" Brian: "Today, Class, instead of hearing from me as your teacher, you're going to hear from our amazing friend who lived in the jungle and learned to eat monkey guts and drink regurgitated Yucca juice." We selflessly looked for every opportunity possible for Amanda to share her story, therefore keeping her here as long as possible.) It was awesome to have such a laid-back, Godly girl to hang out with all week. She was awesome with the kids and amazingly helpful. (I'm seriously considering asking her to move in with us so we can have a full-time Nanny Brock!)


It was also nice to have an extra person to snap pictures while I was running our little man to the potty:



After skinning her own Amazon crocodile for dinner, not even this fazed her:


And it was just cool to have "The Swordsman of the Year" bless the lowly Matchell family with her presence. (That was for you, Emily!)
